Thanksgiving in the Park

Each year, the Guadalupe Center hosts Thanksgiving in the Park as a “thank you” to the farm workers of Immokalee who bring food to our tables. This is an annual tradition that goes back to our beginning in 1982 when 200 people were served.

In years past we have served over 3,000 people to a delicious meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pie. The festivity succeeds each year through the support of individual volunteers, church groups, and social clubs. Volunteers organize and carry out everything from securing donations of food to preparing and serving meals to delivering dinners to the homebound to cleaning up after the event. The day provides a heartwarming experience for all who participate.

What it takes to feed 3,000 people:

  • 250 cooked and sliced turkeys
  • 400 pies
  • 1,000 lbs of potatoes
  • 60 gallons of green beans
  • 7,000 tortillas
  • 55 gallons of salsa
  • 4 cases of cranberry sauce
  • 25 cases of gravy
