The soup kitchen was the genesis for the Guadalupe Center. In the early 1980s, a group of clergy and lay people working together provided the first “helping hand” to reach out to the migrant workers in the Immokalee community by providing food to the needy.
Since its beginning, the soup kitchen has served more than one million hot meals to impoverished families in the community. Today, the Guadalupe Center’s soup kitchen serves more than 35,000 hot meals each year, five days a week (Monday-Friday), with the help of more than 150 volunteers.
